Last week we did some exciting things in First Grade! We have several other first grade classrooms that we have Skyped with this year, but never have we tried 3 at once. Thanks to Mrs. Dietsche in New York/Vermont we were able to ooVoo (like Skype...only better?) with our friends in Vermont and Texas at the same time. We played a fun game ("Like us/Not like us") where we compared our schools. The Morning Sun first graders were surprised by what they learned. Hockey in P.E. class in Vermont?! :) NO recess in Texas if the temperature is below 34 degrees?! Really? We performed our first grade cheer along with the Texas first graders so the Vermont first graders could hear it. It was a great learning experience and we hope to do it again...and again. Thanks Mrs. Dietsche and Mrs. Hilsabeck! :)
We also had our Pasta Day last week. Several of the kiddos brought some different kinds of pasta to school. We read the book Strega Nona, by Tomie dePaola, did some story sequencing, pasta patterning and then ate some yummy pasta, too!
Next week will be a short one, but we will talk about what we are thankful for and also Skype with our Canadian friends. :)
